Relationship of universities with their stakeholders on the Internet: an analysis model

This paper presents the results of content analysis of websites of the andalusian universities, examined from the perspective of stakeholder theory in the context of university social responsibility through the typologies proposed by the European Commission (2008) and by Burrows (1999). The results show that these universities mostly geared their relationship towards internal stakeholders such as students, Management, Research and Services staff and University Government, through web content and information related to electronic processes. Based on these results, we can state that there is a greater focus of these universities towards the establishment of contractual and transactional relationships with stakeholders at the expense of more reticular relations that contribute to mutual enrichment and permanent members of network, where the university has a major nodal role.

Innovation and management technology in industrial firms of Entre Ríos Province, Argentina

Abstract:

The study of innovation and technology management in industrial companies, especially Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs), in Argentina appears to be important to provide improvements in technology learning in organizational and sectorial levels as well as to give guidelines for supporting policies on modernization encouragement and technological innovations from state level and from employers' organizations. The results of a quantitative study undertaken in Entre Rios Province are presented here. Its main objective was to analyze the technology behavior, innovation capability and technology management of outstanding industrial level firms during the postconvertibility period from 2004 to 2008. The results reveal limited innovation behavior as well as varying innovation capability according to company size, industrial sector, orientation towards exportation and other relevant factors.

Discourse, subjectivity and practical philosophy

Abstract:

Results of a research project aimed to the construction of theoretical tools for a critical analysis of contemporary democracy practices and society institutions are here presented. The study was set in the context of the theoretical debate regarding the tension that comes up between the problem of subjective experience and the universalist issue of the principles of morality and justice. It aimed at confronting the different contemporary conceptions of the relation of discourse and subjectivity and its yieldings for the making of a practical philosophy capable of taking up the complexity of the particularismuniveralism debate. It is an attempt at recovering the specificity of the political in the field of philosophy and at re-thinking its relation with the ethical theory, all of which implies a reconsideration of the notions of discourse, rationality and subject.

Scientific rigour in qualitative research practices

Abstract:

The following article develops an analysis of the criteria of scientific rigour which according to the specializated literature guide –or should guide– the process of qualitative research in social sciences. At first, we review the contemporary discussion on these criteria including the proposals of different authors; then, we develop the analysis of the different positions considering their distance to the traditional quantitative research and the stage of the research process they belong to, and finally we discuss the implications for the educational research.

¿Normas perversas en el ámbito educativo? Aportes de la psicología social

Desde una perspectiva psicosocial, el presente artículo se propone contribuir a la comprensión del funcionamiento de las normas en los contextos educativos argentinos y su relación con el clima social emocional. Este último refiere a las emociones colectivas que las personas perciben que prevalecen en sus relaciones con los otros y en sus contextos cotidianos. Específicamente, en el artículo se analiza la posibilidad de la existencia de normas perversas en la convivencia escolar, retomando los hallazgos de tres estudios que revelan este tipo de mecanismos en el sistema educativo. Finalmente se propone avanzar en el estudio de las consecuencias de la dinámica de dobles estándares que pueden considerarse en sí mismas situaciones de violencia y maltrato.

School Stuff. Approaches to daily school life

This paper presents a possible trajectory to think, from a daily and subjective perspective, the ways in which the school again becomes made up as a public space from the constitution of relationships produced by the subjects within it. It constitutes an analitical interpretative route where borders between private and public events seem displaced turning the school image diffused. Testimonies collected during the methodological course of the study were registered and situationally analized,confrontated and put into tension within the space of the collective inquiry.

Census information for decision making in public housing policy

In public policies, different hierarchical levels in decision making and the various public intervention strategies generate different uses and meanings regarding the use of statistical and census information. We found, according to government bodies, a meaning of political negotiation, a rhetorical use to legitimize actions, and a technical and professional use as the basis of the territorial organization of “knowledge” to plan and make decisions. In this paper we present qualitative results of a study on the use of statistical information in public agencies. This is an exploratory case study, therefore it, does not “represent” typical situations. In contrast, the analysis is oriented to the production of concepts that allow a better understanding of the subject.

Geometric, physical and mechanical properties of hollow ceramic bricks produced in Uruguay

Abstract:

This article presents a study of the geometric, physical and mechanical properties of a selection of hollow ceramic bricks produced in Uruguay, based on results of laboratory tests that determined their size, shape deviations, coefficients of absorption and water suction and compressive strength. A study of tests results is made in order to determine the feasibility of the technique of hollow ceramic bricks as a structural material and the analysis of the cares required in the design and construction stages for building in this material.
